Sahih al-Bukhari 3672

It is related that 'A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, said, "We went out with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on one of his journeys until, when we had reached al-Bayda, or Dhat al-Jaysh, my necklace broke and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stayed to look for it and everyone else stayed with him. There was no water there, so the people went to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and said, 'Look what 'A'isha has done. She has caused the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and everyone else to halt at a place where there is no water for them nor are they carrying any water with them!' Abu Bakr came and found that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had gone to sleep with his head against my thigh. He said, 'You have held up the Messenger of Allah and everyone else in a place where there is no water and they are not carrying any water with them!' He rebuked me saying what Allah wished him to say and started to poke me in the side with his hand and the only reason I did not move was that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was against my thigh. At first light the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, got up and found that there was no water. Then Allah sent down the verse of tayammum. So they did tayammum." Usayd ibn al-Hudayr said, 'Family of Abu Bakr, this is not the first blessing you have brought!'." 'A'isha continued, "We made the camel I was on get up and found the necklace underneath it."

Qutaybah ibn Sa‘id related to us, on the authority of Malik, on the authority of ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, on the authority of his father, On the authority of ‘A’ishah; she said: We departed with the Messenger of Allah on one of his journeys,and when we were at al-Bayda’ or Dhat al-Jaysh I lost a necklace, and the Messenger of Allah halted to have a search made for it; and all people halted with him. But they were nowhere near water, and had no water with them. So the people came to Abu Bakr and said: Dost thou not see what ‘A’ishah hath done? She hath made the Messenger of Allah halt, and the people with him; and they are nowhere near water, and have no water with them.— Thereupon Abu Bakr came [to me], and the Messenger of Allah was asleep with his head on my thigh; and he said: Thou hast detained the Messenger of Allah and the people with him; and they are nowhere near water, and have no water with them.—[‘A’ishah] said: Then he rebuked me and said whatever Allah willed him to say, and poked my side with his hand; and I dared not move because the Messenger of Allah reclined on my thigh. And the Messenger of Allah slept until he awoke in the morning, and there was no water. Then Allah revealed the verse about the ablution with dust, and they performed this ablution. And Usayd ibn al-Hudayr said: This is not the first blessing ye have caused, O family of Abu Bakr!—[Continuing,] ‘A’ishah said: Thereupon we made the camel I had been upon rise, and found the necklace under it.
