Sahih al-Bukhari 4337

It is related that Anas ibn Malik said, "On the Day of Hunayn, Hawazin, Ghatafan and others arrived with their animals and families to fight [the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace], and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had ten thousand with him as well as those who became Muslim at the Conquest. They turned back until he alone remained and he made two calls on that day which were distinct. He turned to his right and said, 'O company of Ansar!' They said, 'At your service, Messenger of Allah! Rejoice! We are with you.' Then he turned to his left and said, 'O company of Ansar!' They said, 'At your service, Messenger of Allah! Rejoice! We are with you.' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was on a white mule and he dismounted and said, 'I am the slave of Allah and His Messenger.' Then the idolaters were routed and on that day a lot of booty was taken. He divided it up between the Muhajirun and those had had become Muslim at the Conquest, but did not give the Ansar anything. The Ansar said, 'When there is difficulty, we are summoned and then he gives the booty to someone other than us.' That reached him, so he gathered them together in a tent and said, 'O company of Ansar, what is this report which has reached me about you?' They were silent. He said, 'O company of Ansar, are you content that the people leave with this world and you leave for your homes with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, keeping him for yourselves?' They said, 'Yes, indeed.' The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'If the people were travel one valley and the Ansar were to travel a ravine, I would take the ravine of the Ansar.'" Hisham said, "O Abu Hamza! Were you present at that?" He said, "And how could I be absent from it?"
