Sahih al-Bukhari 3917

It is related that al-BaraÕ said, ÒAbu Bakr purchased a saddle from 'Azib and I carried it with him." He said, "'Azib asked him about the journey of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said, 'Look-outs were taken against us, so we left at night. We travelled quickly through the night and until it was midday. Then a rock loomed before us and we went to it and it still had some shade left." He said, "I spread out a hide I had and then the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, lay down on it. I went to look around me and there was a shepherd driving his sheep towards the rock, intending what we had intended from it. I asked him, ÒWhose servant are you?Ó He replied, 'I belong to so-and-so.' I knew him. I said, 'Do your sheep have any milk' He answered, 'Yes.' I said, 'Will you milk for us?' He replied, 'Yes.' He took one of his sheep and I said to him, 'Clean the dust from the teat.'" He said, "He milked a little milk for me. I had a small pot of water with me over which was a rag. I had prepared it for the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and I poured it over the milk until its bottom was cold. Then I took it to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, 'Drink, Messenger of Allah.' He drank so that I was pleased. Then we set out while being pursued." Al-Bara' said, "I went with Abu Bakr into his family and there was his daughter 'A'isha lying down as she was afflicted by fever. I saw her father kiss her cheek and say, 'How are you, little daughter?'"

Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman related to us: Shurayh ibn Maslamah related to us: Ibrahim ibn Yusuf related to us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, who said: I heard al-Bara’ relate the following: Abu Bakr bought of ‘Azib a camel-saddle, and I carried it for him. And ‘Azib asked him about the journey of the Apostle of God, and Abu Bakr said: Our enemies lay in waiting for us, and so we left at night and travelled throughout the night and the following day, till the sun was at its highest. Thereafter we perceived a rock and went toward it; and there was a little shade under it. I spread for the Apostle of God a fur which I had with me, and the Prophet lay down upon it. Then I went forth to look around. And lo, I met a herdsman approaching with a small flock, desiring of the rock that which we had desired. I asked him: To whom dost thou belong, O boy? He answered: I belong to so-and-so. Then I said unto him: Is there milk in thy flock? He answered: Yea. I asked him: Wilt thou milk for us? He answered: Yea. And he got hold of a ewe from his flock. I said unto him: Clean the udder of dust! Then he drew a little milk. I had with me a waterskin tied up with a piece of cloth, which I had prepared for the Apostle of God. Now I poured some water into the milk so that it cooled to the bottom, went therewith to the Prophet and said: Drink, O Apostle of God! And the Apostle of God drank until I was satisfied. Thereafter we departed, the pursuers on our track.
